The Eclipse Portal Closes

We are at the closing of the eclipse portal.

The total solar eclipse of August 12 seeded a six-month arc. This week the companion lunar eclipse in Pisces completes the portal. What was seeded is being illuminated. What needs to dissolve for that seeding to take root is now being asked to release.

Tuesday, August 25: Mercury enters Virgo and trines Chiron in Taurus. 

Mercury in Virgo's precision meets Chiron, the Wounded Healer in the earth sign. Language becoming medicine. The capacity to name what has been wounded with enough care that the naming itself begins the healing. Let this quiet contact do its work before the eclipse arrives.

Thursday, August 27: Full Moon lunar eclipse at 5 degrees of Pisces. Sun conjunct Mercury in Virgo. Eclipse squares Uranus in Gemini. 

The portal closes on the axis of dissolution and discernment. Pisces dissolves, the membrane between your feeling body and the larger collective field thins. What moves through you in the days around this eclipse may not be entirely personal. Stay close to your body and the Earth. Let what arises move without needing immediate explanation.

Sun and Mercury in Virgo hold the other side with grounded precision — finding specific truth within vast feeling, naming what can be named, holding with spaciousness what cannot yet be articulated.

The square to Uranus in Gemini adds an awakening current. What is being released is not dissolving back into the familiar. Watch for a quiet but undeniable shift in understanding. That is the Uranus thread making itself known.

On the Horizon — Monday August 31: Jupiter Trine Saturn 

The two social planets move into harmonious trine within the twenty-year cycle seeded at the Winter Solstice of 2020 and the two-hundred-year shift of Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions into air signs. A deeper exploration coming next week. Let the eclipse do its integrating work first.

This is for the week of August 24th, 2026, and I'm your host and guide, Sheila Belanger Here's a phrase from this week's podcast poem: To live in harmony with the voice of being So this week we're at the closing of the eclipse portal. The total solar eclipse of August 12th seeded something for you and the world. It began a six-month arc of development around what the South Node in Leo is asking to release, the creative gifts moving from the service of personal recognition into genuine offering for the collective field. This week, its companion lunar eclipse in Pisces completes that portal. What was seeded is now being illuminated, full moon eclipse. What needs to be released for that seeding to take root is now being asked to dissolve. And alongside the big full moon eclipse this week, there are two other astrological thea- threads that deserve attention. Mercury enters Virgo and moves immediately into a healing contact with Chiron. And coming soon on the horizon, not quite here, but already very feelable, is Jupiter trining Saturn, the two social planets in harmonious conversation within the 20-year cycle of them that was seeded at the winter solstice of 2020. That's for Northern Hemisphere folks. We'll touch that horizon today a bit and give it more full expression in next week's podcast. But now, this week The key cycles. Tuesday, August 25th, Mercury enters Virgo and then trines Chiron in Taurus. Mercury moves from Leo's warmth and creative conviction into Virgo's precision, discernment, and devoted attention to what is real and whole. After weeks of Mercury in Leo, speaking from the heart, finding your voice, moving through the expansive field of Jupiter and the creative activation of the new moon eclipse, the communicator now shifts into a different mode, quieter, more precise, more attentive to the specific and the actual. The Virgo sign thinks carefully. It notices what others miss. It finds the detail that changes the picture. And in service to genuine healing, Virgo's precision is not criticism. It is the devoted attention that allows what has been wounded to be seen clearly enough to begin metabolizing. Virgo brings an incredible gift of bringing into alignment that which has been shattered, wounded, or dissonant On the same day as Mercury enters Virgo, it almost immediately trines Chiron in Taurus. This is a quietly significant contact in the days before the full moon eclipse. The communicator is in its most discerning mode in Virgo, finding easy alignment with the woo- wounded healer in the Earth signs. Language becomes medicine. The capacity to name what has been wounded with enough precision and enough care that the naming itself begins the healing Chiron in Taurus has to do with working the wounds of body, earth, resource, and embodied worthiness over its long several-year cycle. Virgo's gift, healing through honest, careful, non-dramatizing attention, is exactly what that healing work needs This day, Monday, you might notice when something that has been difficult to articulate finds its right words Perhaps when a conversation that has needed more precision than feeling finally becomes possible. When your body's own knowing finds language that honors rather than reduces Allow Mercury's trine to Chiron to do its quiet work before the full moon eclipse arrives And then on Thursday, August 27th, there is a full moon lunar eclipse at 5 degrees of Pisces. Now, for the Pacific Time Zone, it occurs at 9:18 PM. If you're on the East Coast or in Europe or farther east, your full moon eclipse will be on Friday. The same lunar eclipse has Sun conjunct Mercury in Virgo, and the full moon eclipse squares Uranus in Gemini. Whoa, that's a lot of astrology. So take a breath, and let's try to give you some English around it, okay? So with this full moon eclipse, the eclipse portal closes. A lunar eclipse is a full moon with heightened intensity and accelerated developmental significance. Where the solar eclipse on August 12th seeded a new arc, new moon, this lunar eclipse illuminates and begins the first completion of what was seeded, both personally and collectively. Now, the full moon in Pisces is opposite the Sun and Mercury in Virgo. This is along the axis of dissolution and discernment, of the vast and the specific, of what can only be felt and what can be named and integrated. Let's honor Pisces first. Pisces dissolves. It opens the boundaries between self and collective, between the personal and the imaginal field At a lunar eclipse full moon in Pisces, what has been held in the collective unconscious? Grief, longing, rage, despair. The accumulated feeling field of what humanity is living through becomes briefly, unusually permeable For some of you, you might feel this as an unusual emotional porousness in the days around the full moon eclipse. Perhaps as if the membrane between your own feeling body and the larger collective field has thinned. What moves through you may not be entirely personal at all. It may be the larger field speaking through your body Consider this is not a problem. It can be the particular gift and challenge of Pisces. Stay close to your body and the Earth. Stay in genuine contact with others Let what moves through you move without immediately needing to be explained or resolved or acted upon And then the balancing side, the Sun and Mercury in Virgo hold the other side of this axis with steady, grounded precision. The Virgo energy does not bypass what the Pisces energy dissolves. It offers the integrating intelligence, the capacity to find the specific truth within your vast feelings, to possibly name what can be named, and hold with spaciousness what cannot yet be articulated. And then finally, this full moon, the opposition between the sun and the moon, is square to Uranus and Gemini, the maverick. This adds a disrupting, awakening current to the culmination of the eclipses, the revolution in mind and shared reality. The Neptune-Pluto Gemini cycle that we've been tracking for about a month with these podcasts is present at the closing of this eclipse portal What is being released at this lunar eclipse is not dissolving back into the familiar. Something genuinely new in how reality is understood and shared is pressing through the dissolution For yourself, watch what might suddenly become clear in the days around this eclipse. Not as dramatic revelation, possibly more as a quiet but undeniable shift in how you understand something important. That shift is the Uranus thread in the eclipse making itself known. Uranus as an archetype is not just the maverick, it's the liberator, it's the great awakener. Ah, getting to become aware of something bigger In the collective field, this full moon eclipse arrives in a moment of continued pressure, pain, hope, and reckoning. The dissolution Pisces brings us is not only personal. The imaginal field of what humanity is living through, the grief and pain of what is ending, and the longing for what is trying to be born is unusually present in this eclipse window. Let yourself acknowledge it rather than bypassing it An elder perspective does not look away from collective grief or rage. It holds us with the same honest, steady attention that Virgo brings to what is specifically wounded, and trusts that the dissolving is part of how the new form eventually finds its ground. Pisces is about faith. Virgo is about healing into a deeper level of oneness And then something on the horizon coming that my sensitive peeps are no doubt already tracking. Jupiter trine Saturn On Monday, August 31st, just beyond this week, Jupiter in Leo trines Saturn in Aries. I want to acknowledge this now so you can recognize if you're feeling it approaching, because it opens a larger frame that this eclipse time is already preparing us for In astrology, Jupiter and Saturn are the two social planets, the ones that operate at the level of culture, society, law, and the shared agreements that organize collective life. When they last met in conjunction at zero degrees of Aquarius on the winter solstice of 2020, they seeded a new 20-year cycle of collective development And that particular conjunction also marked the full beginning of a 200-year era of Jupiter and Saturn conjoining in air signs. Every 20 years, those two planets come together, and over a 200-year arc, they come together in the same elemental sign, and then they shift Previously, we had about 200 years of Jupiter and Saturn conjuncting in Earth signs. That time period seeded the industrial era and its relationship to physical resource, production, and the extraction of the Earth's abundance. It's a very strong time when dominator culture truly tried greedily to take everything, and is still operating that way. This new Air era with Jupiter and Saturn, is about mind, communication, relationship, and the invisible infrastructures of shared meaning, the AI revolution, the fracturing and reformation of how reality is constructed, the questions of what genuine collective intelligence looks like when it is no longer organized around domination and extraction Jupiter trine Saturn on August 31st is a harmonious moment within that 20-year cycle they have. The vision Jupiter carries and the structure Saturn requires finding each other with ease, and it is happening in the larger basket of all the three transpersonal cycles that are still active, the ones we've tracked in the last month. The social and civilizational levels are briefly in conversation with each other I'll go more into that territory next week, but for now, let the eclipse do its work of dissolving what needs to dissolve and integrating what is ready to be integrated, so that as we arrive more completely at Jupiter trine Saturn, you have more clarity and more groundedness So a larger frame here, just looking at it. The eclipse portal that opened on August 12th is closing this week What has moved through these two weeks, the seeding of the South Node Eclipse in Leo, the compression and acceleration of the eclipse portal, the activation of all three great transpersonal cycles, the nodal shift towards Aquarius, all these things, they're all now being asked to begin to find the first form, the first steps of integration. And the emphasis in Virgo is the right sign for that integration. Precise, devoted, honest, not dramatic, not rushing toward resolution, simply attending carefully to what is actually here, what has genuinely ripened, and what still needs more time What is ready to be offered and what is ready to be released? Mercury's trine to Chiron at this week's opening and the lunar eclipse's Pisces dissolution at its center are not contradictions They represent two necessary movements of genuine integration. The precise naming and the honest releasing. The specific and the vast. The discerning and the imaginal Let both be present this week. Let the Virgo energy name what can be named. Let the Pisces energy release what needs to dissolve. And let Uranus, the archetype of maverick change, bring the disruptive thread in the eclipse to remind you that what is emerging is genuinely new, not going back to the familiar, but something that has not yet fully found its form So here are some reflection questions for you for this week.
