The Long Cycles Become Visible
Something unusual is happening in the sky this month.
Not just the weekly transits. Something larger. A convergence of long cycles that rarely become visible all at once — briefly illuminated in ways that allow us to feel their presence and direction. This week I am taking more time than usual to orient you in that larger field before walking the specific transits.
The Three Long Cycles
In astrology, when two outer planets meet in conjunction, they seed a cycle that unfolds over generations. Three of these great cycles were seeded in the last 130 years. This month all three are being activated simultaneously.
Neptune conjunct Pluto in Gemini, late 1890s. Gemini governs mind, language, communication, and how reality is constructed and shared. This conjunction seeded a revolution in all of those domains — mass media, the discovery of the unconscious, technologies that transformed how human beings perceive and communicate. The AI emergence, the fracturing of shared reality, the speed at which language and information now move — this is that Gemini cycle in its current expression.
Uranus conjunct Pluto in Virgo, mid-1960s. Virgo governs the body, healing, and the relationship between the individual and the systems they inhabit. This conjunction seeded a revolution in identity and power — civil rights, feminism, the environmental movement, the questioning of who gets to belong and on whose terms. The wounds of who has been excluded, whose body deemed less valuable, whose labor extracted — this cycle is still metabolizing in the collective body.
Uranus conjunct Neptune in Capricorn, early 1990s. Capricorn governs structure, authority, and the institutions that organize collective life. This conjunction seeded the dissolution of old structures of collective meaning — the fall of the Soviet Union, globalization, the beginning of the internet age, the slow unraveling of institutional frameworks that once held collective life together. Those structures have never been fully replaced. What is breaking down in collective systems right now is this Capricorn cycle in its current expression.
This month, through flowing trines and sextiles, all three cycles are being activated simultaneously. This is why many people are experiencing this time as both overwhelming and somehow significant in a way they cannot quite name. Something genuinely large is in motion.
Key Cycles This Week:
Monday, July 13: Venus in Virgo squares Uranus in Gemini.
Unexpected friction in relationship. A desire for more authenticity running up against existing patterns and expectations. Hold relationships with spaciousness. What feels like disruption may be asking for genuine realignment rather than repair of what no longer fits.
Tuesday, July 14: New Moon at 22 degrees of Cancer.
The most personal question in the middle of everything large: what do you need in order to feel genuinely held right now? This New Moon also invites tending the ancestral field. What has been passed down that is being asked to transform? What do you want to consciously seed differently for those who come after?
Wednesday, July 15: Uranus in Gemini sextiles Neptune in Aries.
The revolution in mind and communication in easy flow with the dissolution of old identities and the emergence of new vision. Genuine creative and visionary potential available today. Stay curious about what arrives in image, in impulse, in what the imagination reaches toward.
Friday, July 17: Uranus in Gemini trines Pluto in Aquarius.
One of the most significant contacts of the month. The Awakener and the Transformer in flowing alignment, directly activating the Uranus-Pluto Virgo cycle of the 1960s. Where that conjunction was rupturing initiation, this trine offers flow — new pathways for what was seeded in that turbulent decade. Not a transit to merely observe. A transit to act from.
Sunday, July 19: Mars in Gemini sextiles Saturn in Aries.
A grounding close to an activated week. Inspiration finding form. Insight becoming commitment. What has moved through you this week that wants to become something real and actionable?
Looking Ahead
Next week the activation deepens further — Jupiter opposing Pluto, the Sun entering Leo, Saturn stationing retrograde, and a Full Moon at 6 degrees of Aquarius conjunct Pluto and square Chiron. A culmination moment for everything this two-week arc is building toward. Episode 374 will go deeper into what these cycles are asking of us personally and collectively.
Reflection Questions
- Of the three great cycles, which feels most alive and present in your own life right now?
- At this Cancer New Moon, what does your interior life genuinely need in order to feel held enough to be present to what is unfolding?
- What does the larger arc of collective transformation seem to be asking of you specifically, given your gifts, your wounds, your particular place in the web of life?
You are living inside something genuinely large. That is not a burden. It is, in its own way, a privilege — to be alive at a moment when the long arcs of collective transformation are briefly, unusually visible.

In this podcast, I'll offer you inspiring insights from current astrology cycles that support your path of turning your personal lead into gold. More resources are available at the website ontheedgesofchange.com. Hello, and welcome to episode number 373 of the Astrology Alchemy Podcast. This is for the week of July 13th, 2026. I'm your host and guide, Sheila Bélanger. Phrase from this week's podcast poem: Continue to dare to love deeply and risk everything for the good thing Something very unusual is happening in the sky this month. Not just the weekly cycles, though those are significant. Something larger, a convergence of long cycles that rarely become physical-- visible all at once, briefly illuminated in ways that allow us to feel their presence and direction I wanna take a little more time than usual this week to orient you in that larger field before we walk through the spif- specific cycles of this week. Because what is moving through the collective right now is not only the news cycles, not only the personal pressures of your own threshold journey It is something that has been building for decades, in some cases for more than a century, and is briefly unusually available to conscious awareness right now Stay with me. This is worth the longer view I wanna talk to you about three long cycles. In astrology, the outer planets, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, we call them the transpersonal planets, move so slowly that when two of them meet in conjunction together in the heavens, they are seeding a cycle that will unfold over generations. These are not personal transits. They are civilizational ones. They describe the large movements of collective consciousness, what is being born, what is being broken down, what humanity is being asked to grow into over the coming decades Three of these great cycles were seeded in the last 130 years, and this month all three are being activated simultaneously. That is very rare and not ordinary The first cycle, Neptune conjunct Pluto in Gemini, late 1890s. Gemini governs the mind, language, communication, perception, how reality is constructed and shared When Neptune and Pluto met in Gemini at the turn of the last century, they seeded a revolution in all of those domains. The birth of modern mass media, the beginnings of psychology and the discovery of the unconscious, Einstein's early work, the emergence of technologies that would transform how human beings communicate, perceive, move, and construct shared meaning We are still inside that revolution. The AI emergence, the fracturing of shared reality, the speed at which language and image and information now move. This is Neptune-Pluto's Gemini cycle in its current expression The second cycle, Uranus conjunct Pluto in Virgo, mid-1960s. Virgo governs the body, healing, service, the discernment of what is whole and what is broken, the relationship between the individual and the systems they inhabit. When Uranus and Pluto met in Virgo in the 1960s, they seeded a revolution in identity and power. The civil rights movement, feminism, justice for gay people, the beginnings of the environmental movement, the questioning of who gets to belong and on whose terms That cycle is also still very much alive. We can feel it. The wounds of who has been excluded, whose body has been deemed less valuable, whose labor has been extracted, these are Uranus-Pluto's Virgo cycle still metabolizing in the collective body The third cycle. Uranus conjunct Neptune in Capricorn early 1990s Capricorn governs, governs structure, authority, the institutions and systems that organize collective life. When Uranus and Neptune met in Capricorn in the early 1990s, they seeded the dissolution of old structures of collective meaning and authority, the fall of the Soviet Union, the rise of glo-globalization, the beginnings of the internet age, the slow unraveling of the institutional frameworks, governmental, religious, economic, that had organized the modern world. Those structures have never been fully replaced What is breaking down in collective systems right now? The crisis of authority, the loss of shared truth, the fragmentation of the institutions that once held collective life together. This is Uranus-Neptune's Capricorn cycle in its current expression Why this month matters This month, through a series of trines and sextiles, harmonious flowing aspects, all three of these great cycles are being activated simultaneously Currently, Uranus in Gemini is activating the Neptune-Pluto Gemini cycle directly, the revolution in mind and communication The current Uranus trine Pluto cycle activates the Uranus-Pluto Virgo cycle from the 1960s, the unfinished work of identity, power, and collective healing. The current Neptune sextile Pluto cycle activates its own seed conjunction from the 1890s, the imaginal and transformative field in conversation with itself across time. And Jupiter, the sage wisdom expander, newly arrived in Leo, is moving through contacts with all of these, expanding, amplifying, bringing the quality of meaning-making and generous visibility to what might otherwise feel only like pressure and collapse These are threshold moments in the long arc of collective transformation. By no means the only ones, and not the final ones. But these are times of a genuine window, a moment when the larger cycles become briefly visible, and the direction of the long arc becomes more feelable than usual This is why so many people are experiencing this time as both overwhelming and somehow significant in a way they cannot quite name. If this is you, you are not imagining it. Something genuinely large is in motion From the big picture, now let's go to this week's cycle Monday, July thirteenth. Venus in Virgo squares Uranus in Gemini. I noted this was coming last week. Venus, the relational one, in her careful discerning Virgo mode, meets the awakener in direct tension. Unexpected friction in relationship or how you work with your resources. A desire for more authenticity, more freedom, more genuine alignment with what is actually true. Running up against existing patterns, expectations, or the comfort of the familiar. The cycle is not necessarily destructive by any means, but it asks for honesty rather than management. Where in your relational field has something been quietly not quite right that is now asking to be named? Hold relationships with spaciousness this week. What feels like disruption may be asking for genuine realignment rather than repair of what no longer fits On Tuesday, July 14th, the new moon is at twenty-two degrees of Cancer. The lunation cycle renews in the sign of feeling, belonging, and the interior life. This new moon arrives in the middle of everything we have just named, the long cycles, the relational friction, the larger collective threshold, and it asks one of the most personal questions possible. What do you need in order to feel genuinely held right now? Not what you should need, not what you can manage with or perform without. What does your interior life, your feeling body, the place in you that knows before the mind catches up, actually need in order to feel safe enough to be present to what is unfolding? That is worth some moments of honest attention The New Moon in Cancer is also an invitation to tend the ancestral field. What has been passed down to you in your family line, in your cultural inheritance? that is being asked to transform in this larger threshold moment? What do you want to consciously see differently for those who come after? On Wednesday, July 15th, Uranus in Gemini sextiles Neptune in Aries. Here, the larger cycles become directly feelable. Uranus, the awakener, the disruptor, in easy flow with Neptune, the dissolver and imaginal field and dreamer. The revolution in mind and communication meeting the dissolution of old identities and the emergence of new vision. This sextile carries genuine creative and visionary potential. Ideas that feel both electrically alive and connected to something larger than the personal. A sense that what is being imagined is not only possible, but necessary In the context of the long cycles I named earlier, this is a moment when the direction of the larger arc becomes briefly, genuinely feelable, not as abstract history, but as lived possibility Stay curious about what arrives today in image, in impulse, in the quality of what the imagination reaches toward Friday, July 17th, Uranus in Gemini trines Pluto in Aquarius. This is one of the most significant contacts of the month and the year. The awakener and the transformer, two of the great outer planets in easy flowing alignment. The revolution in mind and communication moving in harmony with the deep restructuring of collective systems and power. This trine directly activates the Uranus-Pluto Virgo cycle of the mid-1960s, the unfinished work of power, identity, and healing in the collective body. But where the 1960s conjunction was a hard rupturing initiation, this trine offers something different. Flow rather than rupture. The possibility that what was seeded in the turbulent decade, the vision of genuine equality of power organized around life rather than dominion, domination of a world that actually honors the dignity of every body, including those of the earth bodies, might find new pathways of expression. This is not a cycle to merely observe. It's a cycle to act from, with a particular quality of purposeful, grounded movement that knows it is part of something much larger And on Sunday, July 19th, Mars in Gemini sextiles Saturn in Aries. A grounding note at the week's close. The action taker finds easy alignment with the structure. Quick, multi-directional Gemini energy meeting the reality principle of Saturn in Aries. Inspiration finding form, insight becoming commitment. After a week of considerable activation, relational disruption, a deeply feeling new moon, major outer planet contacts, this sextile offers a moment of practical integration. What has moved through you this week that wants to become something real and actionable? Let Mars-Saturn help it find its shape And looking ahead, next week the activation deepens further. Jupiter opposes Pluto, the sun enters Leo and immediately squares Chiron and then opposes Pluto, Saturn stations retrograde, and the week closes with a full moon at six degrees of Aquarius conjunct Pluto and square Chiron. Whoa. A culmination moment for everything this two-week arc has been building toward. We will go deeper into what these cycles are asking of us personally and collectively in episode 374 coming up. For now, stay with the larger frame I offered you today. Let it settle into your understanding, not as information, but as orientation. You and all of us are living inside something genuinely large. That's not a burden. It is in its own way a privilege to be alive at the moment when the long arcs of collective transformation are briefly unusually visible Here are some reflection questions for you this week. First, of the three great cycles, the revolution in mind and communication, the unfinished work of power and identity, the dissolution of collective structures of meaning, is there one that feels most alive and present in your own life right now? Secondly, at this Cancer New Moon, what does your interior life genuinely need in order to feel held enough to be present to what's unfolding in you and in the world? And lastly, as the long cycles become more visible this month, what does the larger arc of collective transformation seem to be asking of you specifically, given your gifts, your wounds, and your particular place in this web of life? The poem that comes this week to honor these cycles and support you is from a deeply wise and beloved elder, Maya Angelou. And as usual, this elder gives us a potent challenge. The poem is called Continue by Maya Angelou My wish for you is that you continue Continue to be who and how you are, to astonish a mean world with your acts of kindness Continue to allow humor to lighten the burden of your tender heart Continue. In a society dark with cruelty, to let the people hear the grandeur of God in the peals of your laughter Continue to let your eloquence elevate the people to heights they had only imagined Continue to remind the people that each is as good as the other, and that no one is beneath nor above you Continue to remember your own young years and look with favor upon the lost and the least and the lonely. Continue to put the mantle of your protection around the bodies of the young and defenseless Continue to take the hand of the despised and diseased, and walk proudly with them in the high street. Some might see you and be encouraged to do likewise Continue. To plant a public kiss of concern on the cheek of the sick and the aged and the infirm, and count that as a natural action to be expected Continue to let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer, and let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good Continue to ignore no vision which comes to enlarge your range and increase your spirit Continue to dare to love deeply and risk everything for the good thing Continue to float happily in the sea of infinite substance which set aside riches for you before you had a name. Continue, and by doing so, you and your work will be able to continue eternally Thank you, sacred elder Maya Angelou Mm. Let those sacred words just land on your heart So dear ones I wanna let you know if you're feeling called to work more deeply with these themes of tending, belonging, and rooting yourself within larger cycles of change, I wanna remind you that I'm offering in the summer Root into the Sacred group coaching program.
