What the Interior Field Is Asking

I am back.

Five weeks of pilgrimage in Bhutan, Nepal, and India. I am returning without full knowledge of what has shifted in the collective while I was away, trusting that you have been holding your own orientation through whatever has unfolded. What I can offer, as always, is the larger archetypal field and the longer view.

It is good to be back in this transmission with you.

This week has a particular quality of threshold. Neptune stations retrograde. A new Mercury cycle begins. Venus crosses into new territory. After weeks of considerable activation, something is turning more inward — more reflective, more attentive to what has been absorbed and what now needs integration.

Key Cycles This Week:

Monday, July 6: Sun in Cancer squares Saturn in Aries.

The feeling self meets hard reality. What you are experiencing inwardly may not match what the outer field is demanding. The invitation is to let both be present without collapsing into either. Saturn at its best is not harshness — it is honest clarity. And that clarity, held alongside emotional intelligence, can be surprisingly useful.

Tuesday, July 7: Neptune stations retrograde at 4 degrees of Aries (remaining retrograde until December 12).

When Neptune turns inward, the fog that can accompany its direct motion begins to thin. Over these five months, visions become more interior and personal. Where has idealization been obscuring what is actually true? The quiet signal of your own deeper knowing becomes more available now. Trust it.

Thursday, July 9: Venus enters Virgo. Venus trines Chiron in Taurus

Venus moves from Leo's expansive self-expression into Virgo's careful tending and discernment. Love that shows up in the details, in quiet acts of care that do not announce themselves. On the same day, Venus trines Chiron in Taurus — a genuinely healing contact. Healing arriving not through insight but through the body being genuinely attended to. A small act of care today may carry more weight than its size suggests.

Sunday, July 12: Sun conjuncts Mercury retrograde in Cancer.

A new Mercury cycle begins. This is the still point at the center of the retrograde — the moment when something becomes quietly, suddenly known. Not through analysis but through felt sense. Pay attention to what arises today. This new four-month Mercury cycle is seeded in the feeling field of Cancer. What becomes clear now is worth noting. It is planting something that will develop through the rest of the summer and into autumn.

Looking Ahead:

Monday, July 13 brings Venus in Virgo squaring Uranus in Gemini.

You may already feel this approaching in your relational field — unexpected friction, a desire for more authenticity that runs up against existing patterns. Hold relationships with extra spaciousness as the week closes.

Larger Frame

Less speed, more depth. Less projection, more honest seeing. Less performing of wellness or certainty, more genuine attunement to what is actually present.

Neptune retrograde supports that kind of seeing. Mercury's new cycle in Cancer invites a fresh chapter of communication rooted in emotional truth. And Venus in Virgo reminds us that love at its most real shows up in careful attention — to the body, to the earth, to the small acts of tending that keep life genuinely nourished.

Reflection Questions

  1. As Neptune stations retrograde, where has idealization or wishful thinking been obscuring what is actually true in my life?
  2. What is the quiet felt-sense knowing arriving at this Mercury cycle's new beginning about what wants to be seeded in the months ahead?
  3. Where is genuine healing arriving not through insight but through simple concrete acts of tending and care?

Podcast poem: "Portal" by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer

If you are feeling called to work more deeply with these themes of tending, belonging, and the earth element, two offerings are available now.

On July 11 I am offering a free Earth element taster workshop, Root in the Sacred. And on July 16 the Root in the Sacred group coaching  begins, a deeper container for those ready for sustained work with the Earth element, with the body, with what it means to belong to the living world on your own terms.

You can find details on both at the home page of ontheedgesofchange.com under "What's Open Now" section.

Both are invitations, not urgencies. If they are calling to you, trust that.

Hello, welcome to Astrology Alchemy. I'm Sheela Bélanger, your host for this podcast. Alchemy is defined as a seemingly magical process of transformation. Spiritual alchemy is the process of pursuing the gold of your true nature by transmuting the unrefined, limiting parts of yourself. In this podcast, I'll offer you inspiring insights from current astrology cycles that support your path of turning your personal lead into gold. More resources are available at the website ontheedgesofchange.com. Hello, and welcome to episode number 372 of the Astrology Alchemy Podcast. This is for the week of July 6th, 2026, and I'm your host and guide, Sheila Bélanger. First of all, I am really happy to say I'm back. I've been five weeks in pilgrimage in Bhutan, Nepal, and India. Five weeks away from screens, from news cycles, from the relentless pulse of the information field I will tell you honestly, I do not yet fully know what has moved in the collective while I was away. I am returning with the awareness that significant things may have shifted, and that I'm trusting you've been holding your own orientation through whatever has unfolded. What I can offer, as always, is a lens on the larger archetypal field, the patterns that do not change with the news cycle, the longer view that pilgrimage, if nothing else, restores. It is good to be back in this transmission with you. Now, into this week's astrology cycles. A phrase from this week's poem, "Pause to take in the miracle of what is here." This week has a particular quality of threshold about it. Neptune stations retrograde, a new Mercury cycle begins, Venus crosses into new territory. The inner planets are recalibrating, asking where we are in our cycles of meaning, feeling, and relationship After weeks of considerable activation, such as Mars conjunct Uranus that just happened, Jupiter entering Leo, the electric charge of the Gemini field, something is beginning to turn more inward, more reflective, more attentive to what has been absorbed and what now needs to be integrated. Here's the cur-- key cycles. On Monday, July 6th, the sun in Cancer squares Saturn in Aries. The conscious self meets the structure, and the meeting is not easy. Sun and Cancer operates through feeling, through attunement, through the intelligence of the interior life. Saturn in Aries is direct, demanding, unsentimental about what is real and what is required. Their square can surface the tension between what the heart needs and what current circumstances demand, between vulnerability and the pressure to be capable, decisive together You might notice this as a day when emotional reality and external demand feel particularly misaligned. When what you are feeling inward does not match what the outer field is asking of you. The invitation is not to suppress one in favor of the other. It is to let both be present, the feeling and the reality, without collapsing into either Saturn, as its best, is not harshness. It is honest clarity about, about what is actually here. And that clarity held alongside Cancer's emotional intelligence can be surprisingly useful Tuesday, July 7th. Neptune stations retrograde at four degrees of Aries. It will remain retrograde until December 12th. Reminder, retrograde motion just means from our perspective on the Earth, the planet looks like it's going backwards in its orbit. It's not really, but energetically it calls us inside. When Neptune stations, pauses, seems to turn, the dissolver and imaginal field move inward. Neptune retrograde is a long cycle. Five months of the imaginal field turning toward interior vision rather than collective dissolution. There's actually something clarifying in this, as if the fog that Neptune can generate in its direct motion begins to thin slightly, and what was obscured becomes more visible. Neptune has been in Aries since early 2025, beginning to dissolve old identities, old ideas of what it means to be a self in the world. Its retrograde cycle now asks, "What have you been seeing through a lens of illusion or wishful thinking? Where has idealization of a person, a belief, a future been obscuring what is actually true?" This is not a harsh reckoning. Neptune is never harsh, but it's honest in its own imaginal way Over these next five months, you may find that visions become more interior and personal. That what you are being called toward has less to do with the collective noise and more to do with the quiet signal of your own deeper knowing. Trust that signal On Thursday, July ninth, Venus enters Virgo and then trines Chiron in Taurus. Venus moves from Leo, where she has been amplifying creative expression and the desire to be genuinely seen, into Virgo, where the relational field becomes more discerning, more attentive to what is actually useful and real Venus in Virgo loves with precision. She tends carefully. She notices what others miss. Her gift is attentiveness, the kind of love that shows up in the details, in the quiet acts of care that do not announce themselves. Her shadow process is criticism of self and others when the discernment turns harsh rather than clear. Watch for the difference between honest noticing and the inner critic that uses precision as a weapon On this same day, Venus trines Chiron, newly in Taurus. This is a genuinely healing contact. The careful tending quality of Venus in Virgo moves in easy alignment with the wounded healer in the sign of the body and the Earth There is medicine available here in the simple acts of physical tending, in care that is concrete and present, in the recognition that healing does not always arrive through insight. Sometimes it arrives through the body being genuinely attended to You might notice this as a day when a small act of care for yourself, for another, for the living world around you carries more weight than its size suggests On Sunday, July 12th, the sun in Cancer conjuncts Mercury retrograde. A new Mercury cycle begins. This is the still point at the center of Mercury's retrograde cycle. It's called the inferior conjunction, when the sun and Mercury meet, and a new four-month Mercury cycle is seeded. In the language of Mercury cycles, this is the moment of insight, the flash of clarity that comes not from analysis but from alignment when the conscious self, the sun, and the communicator, Mercury, occupy the same degree, and something becomes suddenly quietly known. In the sign of Cancer, that knowing is felt rather than thought. It arrives through the body, through emotion, through what the interior life has been quietly processing during the retrograde weeks. Pay attention to what arises today, not necessarily in dramatic revelation, more often in a quiet recognition. Something that has been circling finds its center. A question that has been open begins to feel answered, not by logic, but by felt sense This new Mercury cycle, seated in Cancer in the feeling field, will carry the quality of emotional truth and interior knowing through its full four-month, month arc. What becomes clear today is worth noting. It is planting something that will develop through the rest of the summer and into the autumn for Northern Hemisphere folk. And then a little preview. On Monday, July 13th, just beyond this week, Venus in Virgo squares Uranus in Gemini. You may already feel this approaching in your relational field. Unexpected friction, the desire for more freedom or authenticity in relationship that runs up against existing patterns or expectations. A disruption that, handled with awareness, can open something genuinely new. Hold relationships with a little extra spaciousness as the week closes. What feels like disruption may be asking for genuine realignment rather than repair of the familiar Let's look a bit at the larger frame This week, Neptune stationing retrograde, a new Mercury cycle seated in the feeling field. Venus moving into the precision, precision and tending quality of Virgo. The collective field is asking for a different quality of attention than the activation of recent weeks. Less speed, more depth. Less projection, more honest seeing. Less performing of wellness or certainty, more genuine attunement to what is actually present I am noticing, returning from pilgrimage, that the invitation of this moment is not so different from what five weeks of sacred travel offered me. The stripping away of the familiar, the return to what is actually here when the noise quiets Neptune retrograde supports that kind of seeing. Mercury's new cycle in Cancer invites us to begin a fresh chapter of communication rooted in what is emotionally true rather than what is expedient or performed. And Venus in Virgo reminds us that love at its most real shows up in careful attention to the body, to the Earth, to the small and specific acts of tending that keep life genuinely nourished. This is the invitation of the week Here are some reflection questions for this week to support you. First, as Neptune stations retrograde and the imaginal field turns inward, where has idealization or wishful thinking been obscuring what is actually true in my life? Second, what is the quiet knowing that arrives at this Mercury cycle's new beginning? The felt sense rather than the logical conclusion about wha- what wants to be seeded in the months ahead And lastly, where in my life is genuine healing arriving not through insight, but through simple concrete acts of tending and care? Podcast poem for this week really aligns with that deep attending to what's present, and the holiness of details of Venus and Virgo, as well as the bigger vision of holiness from Neptune. It's called Portal by Rosemary Wahtola Trommer Portal. Not only the golden yellow belly of the evening grosbeak as he bobs below the feeder. Not only the rich purple flash of the black-chinned hummingbird charging the air with iridescence. It could, in fact, be any gray-winged thing, even, for instance, a cricket, common as grass, prehistoric and segmented in its armor. Yes, it could be anything. Anthill, moth dust, soft moss, ginger Anything at all that makes you, for a moment, pause to take in the miracle of what is here, and the attendant miracle that you are here too, as witness in this pleat of a pause. You might find yourself stunned with a gratefulness you could never hope to name A thanksgiving beyond the syllables of prayer. A throbbing thanksgiving for the utter marvel of this life that none of us did anything at all to deserve. Yes, gratefulness for the pausing itself, that portal through which we travel to find everything. Everything is holy, even the pill bug, even the tick, even the one who cannot stop stuttering. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you Just a reminder, if you're feeling called to work more deeply with these themes of tending, belonging, and the earth element, there's two offerings I'm making right now. On Saturday, Ju- July 11th, I'm offering a free earth element taster workshop called Root in the Sacred. And on July 16th, the six-session Root in the Sacred group coaching program begins, a deeper container for those ready for sustained work with the earth element, with the body, and what it means to belong to the living world on your own terms.
