The Wound Beneath Many Wounds

This is a week of significant arrivals. Venus in Leo moves through a rapid sequence of major contacts. Chiron crosses into Taurus, beginning nearly eight years of healing work in the realm of body, earth, and resource. And the week closes with the Sun entering Cancer at the Summer Solstice.

Monday. June 15: Venus in Leo sextiles Uranus in Gemini. 

A liberating opening. Venus in Leo leans toward authentic self-expression. Uranus electrifies that impulse, breaking open stale patterns and quickening the creative field. Notice the difference between radiance that comes from genuine self-expression and the performance of radiance designed to manage how others see you. Uranus helps clarify which is which.

Tuesday, June 16: Venus in Leo trines Neptune in Aries. 

Vision follows liberation. The heart and the imaginal field move in alignment. Creativity, inspiration, the sense that something more luminous is possible. In a collective field saturated with ugliness and cruelty, the capacity to remain open to beauty is not escapism. It is resistance. Let the imagination open today while holding what arises with gentle discernment.

Wednesday, June 17: Venus in Leo opposes Pluto in Aquarius. 

The week deepens. Venus opposite Pluto surfaces power dynamics in relationship, places where love has become entangled with control or desire shadowed by fear of loss. Collectively this opposition names what has long been visible: the way systems of power have sought to control the feminine, the relational, the creative. Where in your own life has love or creative expression become entangled with power in ways worth examining? What is being asked to transform?

Friday, June 19: Chiron enters Taurus, remaining until September 13 before briefly retrograding back into Aries, then returning to Taurus until May 2034. This is the threshold of the week. Perhaps of the year.

Chiron in Aries since 2018 has been working the wounds of identity, the right to exist and assert a self in the face of systems that deny that right to so many. It has also been working the wound of radical disconnection from the web of life. The mythology of the rugged individual who needs no one and owes nothing. The belief that life is fundamentally competitive rather than reciprocal. The armoring against interdependence that produces its own profound poverty and loneliness.

That wound does not end as Chiron moves into Taurus. It deepens into new territory.

Chiron in Taurus turns the healing work toward the body, the earth, and the deep unmetabolized wounds in our relationship to the living world. The wound of an economy built on extraction, of profound inequality where abundance exists alongside deprivation by design, of a civilization that severed its understanding that the earth is not a resource to be used but a living web of which we are part.

Nearly eight years. A generational healing arc is beginning. Honor the threshold.

Sunday, June 21: Sun enters Cancer. Summer Solstice and Sun sextiles Chiron in early Taurus. 

The longest day in the northern hemisphere. A sacred pause in earth-based traditions, a moment to feel the fullness of what has been growing and to honor the turn. The Sun sextiling Chiron freshly arrived in Taurus is a gentle blessing on this new healing arc, the light of the Solstice illuminating what Chiron has come to work with. Spend time in the natural world if you can. Let the body be held by something older and larger than the current crisis.

Chiron in Taurus initiates an era of healing in the domains that matter most for the continuation of life on this planet. The body. The earth. The radical inequality of who has access to sustenance. The severed relationship between human civilization and the living web it depends on.

This is the wound beneath many wounds. The one that colonial dominator culture has both created and depended on to sustain itself. Chiron in Taurus will not let it remain invisible.

The Summer Solstice opening this era is fitting. The longest light, blessing the beginning of a long healing.

In Aries, Neptune, the dreamer visionary, dissolves the boundaries between individual vision and something that wants to move through us from a larger source. Venus opposite Pluto, the great transformer, is one of the more intense relational transits available. The principle of love, beauty, and desire meets the transformer directly across the full polarity of Leo and Aquarius This opposition can surface power dynamics in relationship. Places where love has become entangled with control, where desire, desire is shadowed by fear of loss, where the need to be seen has become dependent on someone else's recognition in ways that are no longer sustainable In the collective field, this opposition names something that has been visible for some time. The way systems of power, Pluto and Aquarius restructuring collective authority, have always sought to control the feminine, the relational, the creative, the expressive. The way beauty and love have been commodified, weaponized, and made conditional by dominator systems Venus in Leo will not easily submit to that. Leo knows its own worth, and yet the opposition asks for genuine reckoning rather than mere assertion. You might consider where in your own life has love or creative expression become entangled with power in ways worth examining Not to collapse into the examination, but to bring the honest clarity that Pluto always eventually demands What is being asked to tr-transform in how you love, how you are seen, and what you are willing to claim as genuinely yours? On Friday, June 19th, Chiron enters Taurus. This is the threshold of the week, perhaps of the year. Chiron, the wounded healer, the shamanic one, the shapeshifter, crosses from Aries into Taurus, where it will remain until May 2034, with a brief retrograde cycle back into Aries from September 2026 to April 2027. Nearly eight years. This is not a personal transit. This is a generational one Chiron in Aries, where it has been since 2018, has been working the wounds of identity, the right to exist, to act, to assert a self in the face of systems that deny that right to so many. That work is not finished, but a new chapter is beginning Aries also carries the wound of a particular kind of violence, not only the violence done to others, but the violence of radical disconnection from the web of life itself. The wound of the isolated self, armored against interdependence, the false mythology of the rugged individual who needs no one, owes nothing, and measures worth by what can be accumulated and defended alone. Recognize this? This is not simply personal psychology. It is the foundational wound of dominator culture, the severing of the self from genuine belonging The belief that life is fundamentally competitive rather than reciprocal. That the only honest answer to any question of resource or care is what's in it for me? That wound has produced extraordinary suffering in those it excludes, yes, but also in those who carry it as an identity The armoring against interconnectedness is its own kind of poverty The loneliness at the center of a culture organized around individual acquisition is not accidental It is the direct consequence of a worldview that forgot or violently suppressed the knowledge that we are woven into each other and into the living world Chiron in Aries has been working that wound, asking where the armor came from, what it was protecting against, whether the protection is still necessary or whether it has become its own form of imprisonment That deep work does not end as Chiron moves into Taurus. It deepens into new territory Chiron in Taurus turns the healing work toward the body, towards the earth, toward the deep and largely unmetabolized wounds in our relationship to the living world, to physical existence, to resource and sustenance. What are those wounds? The wounds of a capitalistic economy built on extraction of the earth, of labor, of bodies deemed less valuable by systems of race and class. The wound of profound inequality, where abundance exists alongside deprivation, not by accident, but by design. The wound of disconnection from the body, from the natural world, from the felt sense of belonging to something living and reciprocal The wound of a civilization that forgot or deliberately severed its understanding that the Earth is not a resource to be used, but a living web of which we are a part. Chiron in Taurus will not resolve these wounds in eight years, but this cycle will bring them into a new quality of awareness. It will ask individually and collectively where we have inherited a distorted relationship to body, earth, money, and resource, and what genuine healing in those domains might actually look like. Not the healing that restores the old normal, but the healing that metabolizes what has been broken and begins to grow something genuinely different. This is a long arc beginning. Honor the threshold On Sunday, June 21st, the sun enters Cancer, summer solstice, and the sun in Cancer sextiles Chiron in early Taurus. The longest day in the northern hemisphere, the moment of fullest light before the slow natural turning toward darkness begins. The solstice has always been a threshold in Earth-based traditions, not only an astronomical event, but a sacred pause, a moment to feel the fullness of what has been growing, to honor the light, and to consciously acknowledge the turn. The sun entering Cancer brings the conscious self into the realm of feeling, belonging, ancestral memory, and the interior life. After the quickening of Gemini season, Cancer invites a different quality of attention, slower, deeper, more attuned to what is beneath the surface. And on this same day, the sun sextiles Chiron freshly arrived in Taurus. This is a gentle but significant alignment. The light of the solstice touching the newly arrived wounded healer in the sign of the body and the Earth, as if the longest day is blessing the beginning of this long healing arc, illuminating what Chiron in Taurus has come to work with Spend time in the natural world if you can. Imagine that distance descending from the soles of your feet to the bedrock beneath. There, between topsoil and rock, extend miles of roots, soil, streams, pools, and unnamed, uncountable creatures that thrive in 22 feet of peat, of sponge, of cushion giving rise to cinnamon fern, purple nightshade, sarsaparilla, winterberry, silver maple, highbush cranberry, northern white cedar But no, give us the conformity of gravel, the tidiness of concrete, the practicality of straight lines. That's what we like. Not this massive dynamic complexity that we cannot capture or tame Yet when Superstorm Irene slammed into Vermont, tore bridges from their moorings, flushed cars, houses, roads downriver, carried away barns, swallowed farmland This Cornwall swamp absorbed its velocity, contained its ferocity, said to the towns downstream, "This is what I was made for. I am the wisdom of millennia, the multiplicity of tendrils beneath the surface. We flex, we fold, we embrace, we hold Stand at the solstice threshold for a moment before moving on. Feel the fullness of the light. Feel the earth beneath you. Let the body remember that it belongs to something ancient and reciprocal, something that was here long before the current crisis, and will continue reorganizing long after.
